I will be presenting in Auckland in November 2014 focusing on educating both people with Parkinson disease and health professionals about the latest evidence based exercise approaches specific to Parkinson Disease.

The talk will be for one hour at 7pm at the Lynfield room, Fickling Convention Centre, 546 Mt Albert Road, Three Kings, Auckland on Thursday 6th November

It will aim to inspire  and educate those living with Parkinson disease to ensure that they are including daily exercise in their management of Parkinsons. With the latest research showing that there is the potential that exercise can be neuro protective on the brain. It is vital that you understand the HOW, WHEN, and WHY’s of exercise specifically for Parkinsons.

The talk will also provide information to health care professionals about the latest approaches to Parkinson rehabilitation and how neurological physiotherapy can be proactive rather than reactive to Parkinson impairments. With an increased focus on treating people with degenerative neurological conditions at the time of diagnosis, it can be difficult to know what to recommend to the client when there is no significant impairment present. You will be educated on the principles of exercise for Parkinsons for the mildly impaired and what the LSVT BIG and PD Warrior programs offer clients.

With extensive experience in treating Parkinson disease, focusing on treating the newly diagnosed and mildly impaired, I hope to offer an inspirational evening of education to improve the quality of life for those living with Parkinsons.
